Songwriter-record producer Roger Meltzer is the Founder and A&R Director of the indie reggae record label, Capsicum Records. He hosts The Capsicum Show on UFDV 87.9-FM in Kingston and UFDV RadioJamaica.com on the internet, the fastest hour in radio. His home station is SoMetroRadio.com. and leader of the Get Global Internet Radio Network.
Meltzer also teaches classes on copyrights and royalties and was a staffwriter-producer-
arranger at The Sound Of Philadelphia — i.e., Philadelphia International Records. His mentors there included Jamaica born Thom Bell, Kenny
Gamble, Gene McFadden and John Whitehead, Billy Paul, Jefferson, Simmons and Hawes, Jerry Butler, Bill Bloom and others.
Meltzer created the Reggae-in-Fusion sound with co-producer and studio engineer Osborne “Ifield” Joseph of Dominica and later with Joseph Everton “Reality” Weekes of Montserrat.
Thanks to Jamaican Radio DJ Ritchie B, with the release of Reggae-In-Fusion Album #1, that contagious sound of reggae mixed with r&b. gospel. pop, country, or smooth jazz soon became known as “roots on the bottom and pop on the top.”
You can catch his show every Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m.
